Through a diplomatic note, the government of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo asked the United States to investigate the recent death of a Mexican migrant and that those responsible are sanctioned in case their human rights have been violated. The president condemned the policy of detention of Mexican workers, since the migration cannot be criminalized, since the nationals provide profits to the economy of both countries.
On Monday, a Mexican died in custody of the Customs Immigration and Control Service (ICE) in California, after being arrested in a raid and treated in a hospital.
The vision of the Mexican government is that the criminalization of the countrymen “will affect the economy of the United States. In the countryside there are many US businessmen who face problems because they cannot hire, because of the situation they are living.” The crisis affects not only Mexicans, but also people from other nationalities, said the president.
Climate change
On the other hand, without confronting the Chief of the White House, Donald Trump, Sheinbaum Pardo disagreed with his vision of climate change in the world, because there is scientific evidence that there has been a global warming of 1.5 degrees in recent years.
He explained that what causes the increase in the surface temperature of the planet, is the rise in the concentration of carbon dioxide, methane, oxides, nitrous oxide and some other compounds that have the ability to reflect and absorb an electromagnetic spectrum and return it, particularly infrared, and that increases the temperature of the earth.
Around the relationship with the United States, he commented that there will be a meeting between officials from both countries to monitor the agreements reached during the visit made to Mexico the Secretary of State, Marco Rubio. The Labor Board will be held in the United States, with more precision in Texas, and several undersecretaries will participate. The objective is to follow up on the understanding that was achieved with the government of the neighboring country, in security.
By delving around the support provided to Mexicans residing in the United States, he mentioned that the reinforcement of consulates actions includes the possibility of legal advice in cases where they determine to promote legal resources for human rights violations, since Mexican diplomatic representations cannot do so directly.
“They are an injustice (the raids). Of course they hurt and we are with our countrymen. That is why there is a recognition from here what they do, because when there is discrimination there must also be a recognition of their work,” he concluded.
