Diosdado Cabello: There is something political in the destruction of food

The first vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, considered that “there is something political” behind the destruction of large amounts of food by some unscrupulous producers.

Cabello reflected this Monday in the Press conference from the red awning that “when someone records it and you see those who replicate it, something is there.”

He added that “there is something political behind all this, because the peasants have as a rule to be good people, splendid with their things. When they are given a harvest of corn, they give it to the neighbors, they share their happiness and their luck that the harvest was satisfactory”.

Videos of farmers throwing away the harvested food due to an alleged lack of fuel that prevents them from traveling to Caracas, one of the main points of sale of fruits, vegetables and vegetables produced in the rest of the country, were broadcast on social networks. the states.

For this reason, the Venezuelan Prosecutor’s Office An investigation began last Friday. against a group of people allegedly responsible for the destruction of large amounts of food in order to cause anxiety in the population and in violation of the Fair Prices Law.

This Monday, prosecutor Tarek William Saab reported on the arrest of Ysnet Antonio Rodriguez Mambel, who in the Pueblo Llano Municipality of Merida destroyed a large number of carrots, throwing them into the river, which he described as a violation of the Fair Prices Law for the crime of boycott and reported that the man will be brought before the competent Court.

One subject did the same with a shipment of bananas and another with one of tomatoes, actions that are still under investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office.

The head of the Public Prosecutor’s Office appointed the 23rd National Prosecutor for Economic Crimes to investigate and punish irregular acts that threaten the country’s agri-food security.

Regarding the investigations started, Cabello said that “no one is being convicted here, the investigation will give its results (…) we will be aware of that and in what we can help, we will help.”
