The first vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, referred this Monday to the electoral victory of Lula da Silva in Brazil and to the defeat of Jair Bolsonaro, who, he assured, was the last member of the Lima Group remaining in the region.
“The Lima group had its last prayer, this Sunday the last president that was part of it left and Nicolás Maduro is still standing, he is still president,” he said during the party’s press conference.
«The Lima group is an appendage of the OAS, they all left and Nicolás continues, which was their objective. This is important for the peoples of our region, it is a collective triumph because not only was this group trying to attack Venezuela, but the attacks came from other places,” he assured.
He recalled that Jair Bolsonaro tried to invade Venezuela during his presidency. “Bolsonaro was about to invade Venezuela, the Army generals stopped him, that’s why we have to see Lula’s victory with a big smile, because it is a victory of the peoples, and today America is another,” he said.
Petro’s visit to Venezuela
Similarly, Cabello referred to the visit of the president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, to Venezuela, this Tuesday, November 1st.
“It was a meeting that was already scheduled and that is very important for politics in the region. First president in 25 years who does what Petro has done for Venezuela, try to resume peace relations, because Venezuela has always been willing to do it, “he said.
He assured that with Lula’s triumph, Venezuela and Colombia can make common plans, because there are relations of respect. “That does not mean that there will be no differences,” he said, stating that the PSUV applauds the dialogue in any instance.
