Minister Flávio Dino of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), said on Friday (8) that it is not up to the embassies of foreign countries in Brazil to monitor the performance of court magistrates.
The minister’s reaction was published on social networks after the US embassy published a note on Thursday (7) in which he threatens Minister Alexandre de Moraes and who supports him. In addition, diplomatic representation said it “monitors the situation closely.”
The disclosure of the message took place after decree of house arrest of former President Jair Bolsonaro, for Moraesafter successive non -compliance with precautionary measures defined by the minister.
Dino stated that, According to the rules of international law, embassies have no attributions to monitor judges and any Brazilian citizen.
“I remember that, in the light of international law, it is not included in the attributions of the embassy of any foreign country to warn or monitor what a magistrate of the Supreme Federal Court, or any other Brazilian court, should do,” said the minister, who also defended the sovereignty of the country.
“Respect for national sovereignty, moderation, common sense and good education are fundamental requirements in diplomacy. I hope it will impede dialogue and friendly relations between historically partner nations in commercial, cultural and institutional plans. It is the best for all,” he added.

Yesterday (7), the US embassy in Brazil translated comment from the Secretary of Public Diplomacy, Darren Beattie, threatening authorities of the Brazilian judiciary who “contribute to Moraes”.
“The allies of Moraes in the judiciary and other spheres are warned not to support or facilitate the conduct of Moraes. We are monitoring the situation closely,” said the statement of the diplomat, accusing the minister of “censorship” and “persecution” against Bolsonaro.
