“If Nicanor is listening to me, I would recommend that it be kept in that condition. (secrecy)just as I would recommend it to any human being who suffers from the scourge of that particular judge. I owe the right to conscientious objection not to abide by unjust and arbitrary decisions. Let’s wait for the appeal,” declared the lawyer, revealing his dissatisfaction with the actions of the judge in charge of the case.
Portugal also addressed the possibility that the Boluarte brothers have had contact after the sentencealthough he avoided confirming or denying this communication. As he explained, Nicanor’s situation has caused concern in the president, who is affected by the prosecutor’s request and the accusations surrounding the ‘The Waykis in the Shadow’ case.
In defense of his client, the lawyer stated that the Prosecutor’s Office has failed to build a solid case linking the president to the illicit activities being investigated. In this context, he pointed out that Dina Boluarte could take advantage of her right to refrain from testifying if required. “She could take advantage of her right to abstain, which is valid due to her relationship with one of those investigated,” he said.
Minister of the Interior avoided calling Nicanor Boluarte a ‘fugitive’
The Minister of the Interior, Juan José Santiváñezaddressed the search for Nicanor Boluarte, brother of President Dina Boluarte, in a recent interview. Despite media pressure, the minister avoided describing him as a ‘fugitive’ and limited himself to pointing out that the Peruvian National Police (PNP) is carrying out the relevant investigations.

Nicanor Boluarte’s situation is complex, since he faces a ruling of 36 months of preventive detention for his alleged connection with the criminal network ‘Los Waykis en la Sombra’.
The minister was also consulted about the situation of Vladimir Cerrón, who is in hiding and continues to express himself through social networks. Santiváñez defended the work of the PNP, although he acknowledged that they have not managed to capture him so far.
