President Dina Boluarte announced that the state of emergency in Lima and Callao will extend for 30 more days, as part of the actions that the government will take to combat the crime that plagues the these regions of Peru, also supporting the decision to prohibit two people from traveling on a single linear motorcycle.
The measure was made official by Supreme Decree No. 046-2025-PCM, published in the newspaper El Peruano, which enters into force from April 14 to May 17.
The decree indicates that during the validity of the state of emergency, the transit of minor vehicles of categories L1 and L3 is restricted that include motorcycles allowing only the driver’s circulation, without companion.
“The criminals use the motorcycles to commit criminal acts. This is overnow they will not be able to commit their actions so easily, the state of emergency is extended, those Peruvians who win the daily bread, the restriction of minor vehicles, will circulate with only one driver, if they are two they will be intervened. This will be in Metropolitan and Callao Lima, in order to combat extortion, “said the president.
Likewise, the rule indicates that if indications of commission of a crime are detected, the persons involved will be referred to the corresponding police station for the start of the investigations, according to the current legal framework.
On the other hand, the Minister of Transport and Communications, Raúl Pérez Reyes, said that they have been working on an additional standards package to strengthen the process of motorcycle traffic control.
“We are being careful with the definitions, since we must also protect the right of citizens who use this means of transport honestly,” said the minister.
