The Attorney General’s Office added two new preliminary investigations to the 18 that already existed for deaths and injuries that occurred during social protests against Dina Boluarte. These two cases are for the death of a minor in Apurímac and for the violence committed by PNP commander Segundo Martín Ocampo, at the Juliaca airport. Now, there are 20 formalized cases that the Public Ministry is seeking to clarify.
“…there are 20 formal preliminary investigations in the departments of Lima, Apurímac, Arequipa, Puno, Cusco, La Libertad, Ucayali, Junín and Ayacucho; which involve 160 members of the National Police and the Army accused of the deaths and injuries to the detriment of 274 citizens,” the state entity published on its official website.
On July 11, the Prosecutor’s Office had already formalized these 18 cases involving this number of members of the National Police and the Armed Forces, in the murders committed during December 2022 and January 2023.
The first case has to do with the events that occurred on December 12, 2022 in the vicinity of the Chincheros Police Station, in Apurímac, where a minor, whose initials are RPML, died and two people were also injured.
For this infanticide, the former commander general of the PNP, Raul Alfaro Alvarado; the former head of the Apurimac Police Front, PNP General Luis Jesus Flores Solis; the head of the Police Division of Andahuaylas and Chincheros, PNP Colonel Alexis Lujan Ruiz; and the PNP officers Carlos Cesar Cuya Campos and Litman Pena Pacheco are being investigated.
On the other hand, the other investigation is for the crimes of serious injuries, minor injuries and abuse of authority against Segundo Martín Ocampo Aguirre, PNP commander, for the violence unleashed near the Inca Manco Cápac airport, in Juliaca, where four people were injured.
