The Vice President and Minister of Development and Social Inclusion, described as a “mounted theater” the statements made before the Supervisory Commission by the businessman who is serving preventive detention and who assured that Pedro Castillo had allegedly won the elections irregularly.

“I think it’s a staged theater in three acts. The first act was when we went to the second round and everyone, when we won the elections, said fraud, democracy. “Third act, Mr. Zamir comes out with the same thing and Karelim, in his last presentation to the media, said that it was in the hands of Bruno Pacheco to save Peru, now vacant. It seems more like he was talking about the leader of a political party than one investigated for criminal acts ”he added.

Villaverde García said that the president was the one who “He led, planned and coordinated at the highest level this work with the National Elections Jury, thus undermining democracy, harming Mr. Rafael López Aliaga and Mrs. Keiko Sofía Fujimori, manipulating the popular will”.

In response, the National Elections Jury (JNE) ruled out any type of irregular act and sent a letter to the Nation’s prosecutor, Pablo Sánchez, asking to investigate the accusations launched by businessman Zamir Villaverde against the highest electoral body.

It should be remembered that both the JNE and the Public Ministry have filed, to date, most of the processes that were initiated due to accusations of fraud during the 2021 general elections for alleged impersonation of polling station members. Prosecutors at the national level have archived, of a total of 19 cases that came into their hands, eleven processes.
