The President of the Republic, Dina Boluarte, regretted the announcement of the restart of the protests, called in some parts of the country for this January 4. From Cusco, where he traveled this morning to hold meetings with journalists and authorities, he pointed out that they are pretexts to foment the crisis.
“They are pretexts to continue causing chaos,” emphasized Boluarte, while questioning that leaders from seven regions have called for the closure of Congress and the release of Pedro Castillo from jail.

The president said that these proposals are unfeasible and are points that “it is not in my hands to resolve.”
During his presentation, Boluarte reiterated that he helped Pedro Castillo in everything he could and that he was always against presenting a question of confidence before Congress.
WON’T QUIT
He also referred to the acts of vandalism caused in the marches and stressed that he will not resign from office.
“What do we solve by burning public ministries where there are two files as an investigation? What do we solve by burning police stations? Let’s work together let’s look at the country sincerely with our hearts in hand, ”she noted.
In addition, she said that she does not understand why the militants of the left attack her.
“I don’t understand why the leftist comrades have risen up against Dina Boluarte. I am a provincial Democratic woman. Why are you angry with me, fellow leftists? What do we get out of my resignation? Do we get anything out?” she added.
“With my resignation, the person who would assume the Presidency would be the president of Congress and I don’t know if that would calm down or further fuel the anger, rage and demands of the Peruvian people, that is why I am here,” he remarked.
Boluarte affirmed that his government listens to the people and for that reason they presented to the Legislature a proposal to advance the elections to April 2024, since this deadline allowed them to have time to carry out political reforms and hold suitable elections.
“Congress already said in a first vote that it is going. We hope that in the second vote this early election will be ratified, ”he explained.
