President Dina Boluarte reaffirmed the position of the Peruvian State against the electoral fraud in Venezuela that allowed the re-election of Nicolas Maduro as president.
During the ceremony for the 203rd anniversary of the creation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Boluarte Zegarra stressed that the defense of democracyfreedom and peace are the pillars of Peru’s foreign policy, which is why it condemned the lack of transparency in the Venezuelan elections and the manipulation of the results.
“Peru, through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has strongly condemned the Venezuelan electoral process, highlighting the lack of transparency and the manipulation of the results,” he said.
In this regard, the president demanded the government of Nicolás Maduro to respect the will of each of the citizens who went to vote on July 28. He also recalled that numerous statements were issued condemning fraud and violence.
“We have issued official statements to denounce these injustices and reaffirm our commitment to democracy and human rights,” he said.
