The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte has observed the law approved by the Congress which sought to grant a minimum S/ 3,300 pension to the cease and retired teachers of the country, argues distortion in the pension and constitutional system. The Executive Power had to promulgate it and be published in The Peruvian. But, after 15 days to sign it and with the refusal, it will be returned to Plenary of Congress to be modified or approve it by insistence.
The law was approved in the second vote by the Parliament and obtained 66 votes in favor. The opinion provides that the pensions of retired and unemployed teachers be high from 800 to 3300 soles. After several manifestations, Lucio Castro, Secretary General of Unitary Union of Workers in Education of Peru (SUTEP), he said that it seems a fair decision since the third age teachers are those who receive the lowest pensions by the State.
“Unfortunately, if a teacher retires at age 65, she goes between S/ 400 and S/ 700, and these amounts today no longer cover the basic family basket. It is a topic of justice,” he said.

The opinion establishes that around 162,000 retired and unemployed professors of basic, regular, alternative, special and technical – productive education can access 3,300 soles pensions, which is equivalent to the first remuneration scale of teachers. This will be applicable for those included in the decrees Laws 19990, 20530, the Law of Magisterial Reform and Private Pension System.
“This proposal can be progressively implemented. The Executive has to be creative to resolve this serious abuse,” said the former Minister of Education, Idel Vexler.

The congresswoman Pablo flowerpromoter of the initiative, pronounced after knowing what President Boluarte observed the law and criticized that she does not contribute with any other alternative to benefit retired teachers.
“Today, around 11 in the morning, the document was known with the observations that President Dina Boluarte sent to the Congress on the Law of Dignified Pension Post of X.
For its part, Sutep also showed its rejection of the Executive’s decision and demanded that the Congress of the Republic approve it by insistence. “The Government did not comply with the cease and retired teachers! This is the opportunity of the congressmen to deliver decent pensions to their teachers. We expect the promulgation by insistence on the part of the national Parliament and compliance with the collective agreements,” they said.
