The president Dina Boluarte was present during the inauguration of the APEC Ciudadanos 2024 fair and marked the beginning of the events related to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC 2024) that will be held for the third time in our country and brings together the leaders of the main economies in the world.

“I am very pleased to be with you at the opening of the APEC Ciudadanos fair, marking the beginning of a very important week for the country in which we get ready to receive the leaders of the 21 most important economies of the Asia-Pacific and the world, convened by Peru for the APEC 2024 forum,” said Boluarte.

“For the third time, Peru holds the presidency of the APEC forum and within this framework we are closing a very significant year in the history of this important space for regional cooperation. We have led the design of a substantive agenda with concrete results in order to provide our citizens with the necessary tools to take advantage of the opportunities for adequate economic, labor and social insertion. In addition, we guarantee adequate development and greater and better growth for our country,” he added.

This event, organized by the Charity of Lima and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, aims to bring the opportunities and benefits of the international forum to all citizens, with greater emphasis on young people, students, businessmen and entrepreneurs. The economies of different countries that make up 61% of the global economy will participate, including Russia, Mexico, Japan, South Korea, the United States and more.

The event will have more than 90 stands, which will include guest countries, national entities and companies that will offer direct access to opportunities in business, education and innovation. Key sectors such as mining, fishing, finance, automotive, agribusiness and textiles will be represented, as well as craft companies and other MSEs, highlighting the economic diversity of Peru and the region.

Eight key issues for the development of Peru will also be addressed, based on the pillars of APEC: empower, include and grow. These topics include business growth, technological innovation, sustainability, cultural integration, entrepreneurship, education, and the role of women in the economy.

Peru stands out as the country with the highest number of young entrepreneurs in the region, with 54.3% of its entrepreneurial population between 18 and 34 years old. According to the Ministry of Production, the country is home to 3,271,303 mypes, of which more than half are led by women, thus consolidating the female role in the economic and social development of the country.

SOCIAL IMPACT

One of the most significant features of APEC Citizen 2024 is its focus on social impact. The income generated during the fair will be used to support children, adolescents, people with disabilities and older adults in vulnerable situations served by the Lima Charity.

In addition, the event will have a collection point where attendees can donate groceries, such as non-perishable food, within the framework of the “Feeding Hearts” campaign. Thus, APEC Ciudadano not only promotes economic development, but also reinforces its commitment to the social well-being of the country.
