the president Dina Boluarte gave a Christmas message in which he expressed his condolences to the families who have lost a loved one as a result of the violence unleashed in recent weeks.
“It is not easy for me to say, to each of you, Merry Christmas. How much I would have wanted to start this transitional government without that violence and without those human losses that hurt my heart. I reiterate my condolences to the families. How much I would have wanted this situation of violence that hurts the heart not to happen “said the president.
“The only thing I want in my capacity as a woman, a mother, a daughter, a sister, is to work in peace, calmly, to solve what you rightly demand. But for that just reason that they claim, that they not take advantage and use them to generate violence in the country “he added.
Boluarte recognized the violence that broke out after accepting the post of president of the country after the failed coup d’état that Pedro Castillo tried to perpetrate, and stressed to Peruvians that only in an environment of peace can investments be made to solve problems that they claim
“We have to start working to solve these problems that have not been solved… If there is peace, if there is calm, more people will come to invest in our country and with these investments we will be able to capitalize on the economy and with that economy solve the subject of education, for example”he referred.
As is known, there were 27 deaths and more than 500 injuries, between demonstrators and members of the police, as a result of the wave of protests that broke out after he took office as president of the country. The request of the marches was, among other things, that he resign from office and the elections be brought forward.
