In her message to the Nation, delivered moments ago, the President of the Republic, Dina Boluarte, responded promptly about the requests made by the protesters, and explained why it is not possible to carry them out immediately. In addition, he blamed the extremist sectors that incite the population, knowing that their requests are not viable in the short term.
“Those extremist sectors also ask in their political platform, for example, the closure of the Congress but they do not tell the people, those people who are led to the marches with deceit and lies, that the President of the Republic cannot close Congress if certain conditions that do not exist on this occasion are not met, to do so would be to walk on the brink of the law”, he recalled.

The clearest example of this is that his predecessor, Pedro Castillo, is in prison for attempting to carry out a coup by ordering, on December 7, the unconstitutional and unjustified closure of Parliament. “Likewise, they ask for the release of Pedro Castillo, I cannot release Mr. Castillo, I am not a judge or a prosecutor.”Boluarte said about the former president.
He also explained why it is not viable to install a Constituent Assembly in the current circumstances. “They propose the Constituent Assembly, look at the experience of the neighboring country of Chile, where the constituent process has lasted several years and, faced with the rejection of the citizens, they have opened a new process. This cannot be done overnight, this work does not correspond to the Executive, therefore, do not lie to your compatriots”, he expressed.
