President Dina Boluarte gave a message to the nation this November 12. He assured that he never attended the Mykonos condominium, located in Asia, where the fugitive leader of Peru Libre, Vladimir Cerrón, would have been. Boluarte stated that “media legends have been created about the chest case,” which, in his opinion, has been sought to “generate a crisis in the Government.”
“As the constitutional president of the republic, I have always been very respectful of the authorities of the judicial system. However, for quite some time now I have systematically been the object of permanent harassment with the purpose of generating a crisis in the Government and, as a consequence of this , generate failed vacancy attempts,” were his words at the beginning of his message.
Dina Boluarte assured that the Public Ministry has accepted “hypothetical scenarios” to the detriment of the State due to the expenses generated: “For some it is more relevant to know where the president went (…). Contributing to the creation of scenarios to give viability to unsubstantiated complaints. It is painful to see how these hypothetical scenarios and media legends are embraced by the Public Prosecutor’s Office to create stories for their tax files, generating expenses for the State, violating legal security and failing to comply with the provisions. constitutionally required to subject a president of the republic to one of the powers of the State to ordinary accusations without any basis.
In her message, Boluarte called for the nation’s recent prosecutor, Delia Espinoza, to summon her to testify about the ‘chest’ case. According to Boluarte, the new head of the nation’s prosecutor’s office has not summoned her to date: “As I reiterate, hypothetical scenarios and media legends have been created about the ‘El Cofre’ case. However, so far, I have not been called to testify. Since the beginning of this investigation, on September 24 of this year, as of today, 79 days have passed and they are not interested in my version. But they are interested in the version of the irresponsible rumor. Prosecutor of the nation Delia Espinoza Valenzuela, since November 22 you assumed jurisdiction over this case. The president also denied having attended Mykonos, despite the fact that different sources assured that she did attend the condominium located in Asia, south of Lima. According to Boluarte, his trip to the Asia district was due to a family invitation. In addition, he assured that he will reveal the identity of his companion on said trip to the Public Ministry.
“On the four occasions in which your institution summoned me with other former prosecutors, I went to testify and confronted the investigation with the truth. I could avail myself of the right to remain silent, and I did not do so. (…) I never went to Mykonos. I don’t know that condominium. I went to another place, by invitation and accompanied by a friend, who is not the person that is irresponsibly said in the media, whose identity I will point out when the Public Ministry deigns to reveal it. call me. I went to a family reunion and spent the night at that family’s home (…),” he said.
The president pointed out that “she does not hide criminals,” in reference to the alleged cover-up carried out on behalf of the fugitive Vladimir Cerrón. Furthermore, before touching on other topics in her message to the nation, she once again requested that Delia Espinoza summon her to testify: “I do not hide criminals, nor do I use state assets to cover up people wanted by justice. Yes, I have remained in silence before the media. It has been to protect my privacy (…). Madam prosecutor of the nation, I reiterate publicly, summon me to testify (…) You have the obligation to summon me in advance for the sake of my right to due process and there you will know all the details of my version,” he said.
