In the middle of citizen rejection and protests in the Congress and in the streets of the center of Lima, Dina Boluarte He completed his last message to the nation. With phrases in Quechua chanka, Boluarte He called for unity: “Compatriots: a single head, a single heart, one hand, without hating ourselves. Let’s work together. We will free the great Peruvian nation.”
After 4 hours and 10 minutes, the president omitted around 13 pages of her speech, which this year had 97 pages, 18 more than last year. The message planned to finish, at approximately 4 in the afternoon, but, surprisingly, it was cut. In the course of it, several ministers and congressmen were observed, falling asleep or taking photos without paying attention to Boluarte.
Hours ago, congressmen of the left -handed benches protested inside the hemicycle shouting “liar”, “traitor” after the head of state modified her speech and qualifying them as “traitors to the country” for seeking a new constitution. Given this, legislators like Ruth Luque, Jaime Quito and Wilson Quispe, rose from their seats and took posters with phrases against the regime: “The people do not give up”, “Dina, the people repudiate you”, “Justice for the people.”
Ruth Luque showed before Parliament the photograph of Rosalino Flores Valverde, Cusco citizen killed during the demonstrations against the regime between December 2022 and March 2023. After this, Luque took her belongings and left Congress, followed by Wilson Quispe, who stopped in the middle of the Legislative Palace wearing a pole with the phrase “Justice for the people”.
While Boluarte culminated his speech in a hurried way, in the surroundings of Abancay Avenue, clashes were reported between protesters and the police. So far, three injured have been reported: a photographer, who is not yet identified, and two police officers near the Huánuco bridge.
