The president of the Republic, Dina Boluarteattended today the First Meeting of the Police Command (Recopol), which was held in the district of La Molina, and there, before the highest police chiefs, reiterated his “total commitment” to the National Police and invoked work together with the government to strengthen democracy.
The event, however, was also used by the president to try to highlight the achievements that, according to her, her administration has had, and, in addition, send a message to the candidates for the 2026 general elections.
It was by ratifying his support for the Police in the work against citizen insecurity, “even more so,” he maintained, “when we are beginning an electoral year.”

“We know, by habit, that the presidential candidates, and now the senators and deputations, are going to cling to the government, they are going to attack everything negative, in quotes, about the government; that has always happened. I tell the candidates , whether to the Presidency or the Senate or the deputation, what do they propose to the Peruvian people in terms of the economy? What do they propose to reduce the poverty gap? What do they propose? Take advantage of this woman’s government, the only thing she is doing is working with all her effort and dedication to improve the conditions of each of the Peruvians. We can make mistakes, of course, we are human. To the candidates: come with innovative proposals. Yes. They believe that we are making mistakes in governing and administering Peru in these two years that have passed and this one that is just beginning, well, they are our mistakes, but do not hold on to them, you propose candidates, gentlemen,” he stated.
Next, the president presented the “achievements” of her administration, highlighting economic growth among them. “We have grown economically, we have received inflation of approximately 7.5%, today at 2%, we have generated more investment, we have generated more exports…”, he indicated.
The truth is that economic growth has been negligible and insufficient, low inflation is the merit of the Central Reserve Bank and the increase in exports responds to the good price of metals in the international market. But he didn’t mention that. What he did do was insist that this list of achievements is given “in macro” because—he argued with self-sufficiency—”if we start talking about everything we did, it will take me more than the 5 hours I spoke in Congress.” in reference to his last message to the Nation on July 28.

In another passage of his speech, Boluarte reiterated that the government’s support for the National Police “is firm and unbreakable” and congratulated the new generals who, he said, “through their own merit achieved their promotion.” “Not like in the past when these were due to some monetary benefits. That has not happened before in my government and it has not happened this year nor will it happen,” he emphasized.
Likewise, he assured that the Executive will provide all the conditions in infrastructure, logistics, uniforms and legal security to the police and, in that context, added that “many times the work that the Police do against crime is not valued.”
“It is unacceptable that when in defense of society they use their weapons against criminals, against those who take the lives of our population, including our own police, they end up being prosecuted for abuse, he says, of authority. This not only demotivates (. ..) but it emboldens the criminal who tomorrow goes out, shoots and kills. And why? Because he knows that the police will not be able to counteract the criminal action, because the criminal knows that they will not prosecute him. work to guarantee legal tranquility in the actions of the duty of our National Police,” he stressed.
