The floods in the north of the country due to Cyclone Yaku have provoked the reaction of the Executive and, this Monday, March 13, the president Dina Boluarte announced the creation of the National Infrastructure Authority, which, as reported, will be in charge of the execution of emblematic works that each region requires to face natural disasters.
Boluarte, in a press conference, informed that the Executive will prepare the project before Congress in search of its approval, highlighting that one of the works in which this entity will work is the improvement of the Rímac river basin.
“Announcement that the Government is preparing a bill that will be presented to Congress for the creation of the National Infrastructure Authority, which will have decentralized offices throughout the country”, said the president at a press conference.

“This authority will have three main strategic objectives: first, it will be in charge of executing the emblematic works that we need throughout the national territory, will be in charge of the prevention and control of basins to avoid landslides and floods, will carry out the so often postponed improvement of the Rímac river basin”, he remarked.
Likewise, and as Prime Minister Alberto Otárola had announced, the president confirmed that there will be a restructuring of the Authority for Reconstruction with Changes, indicating that its offices will move to the north of the country because “it does not make sense” that they work in the Lima’s center.
“As a government we attend to the immediate, but also the medium and long term. After the emergency we will have to execute the infrastructure works in terms of clearing, river defense, drainage systems that were not done in the past”, he stated.
“Thus, we have ordered the reorganization of the Authority for Reconstruction with Changes with the objective of providing a real solution against rains and floods”, he added.
