The “Belgrano Bicentenario” collection, in which the Belgranian National Institute digitized for the first time all the existing historical documents of the hero and consequently they will be free for the general public, was presented this Wednesday at the Patrician Regiment of the City of Buenos Aires with the assistance of the Ministers of Defense Jorge Taiana and Culture Minister Tristán Bauer.

The collection, made in collaboration with the Boldt-Boldt Impresores Group and the Fundación Educando en Valores Talentos para la Vidawill also be presented as a “tribute to the bicentennial of the passage to immortality of Manuel Belgrano” registered in 2020.

The organizers pointed out that the initiative to digitize and reprint the original documentation was proposed by the Foundation in its program “Argentina, I love you Bicentennial!”, as a celebration of its 25th Anniversaryand the material presented is “an editorial treasure of national and international scope”.

“We have sought this goal for many years, which we have now achieved,” said Mr. Manuel Belgrano, president of the Belgranian National Institute, and remarked that this work includes “transcendent documents for schools, historians, specialists, and institutions throughout the country and abroad.”

Taiana’s word

Defense Minister Jorge Taiana stated that “We all remember Belgrano for his love for the country and his fight for sovereignty, freedom and justice.; his generosity, his wealth and his talent were also pointed out, but perhaps his most surprising quality was that which enabled a young professional educated in Europe who had returned to a post at the consulate to become a revolutionary figure and military leader.”

“In the midst of the May Revolution, Belgrano, a lawyer without military training, was entrusted with the difficult task of leading the expedition to Paraguay. in a very complex moment in which there was no way that could go well; but in that scenario what was extraordinary was his ability to learn quickly”Taiana indicated.

After that experience “the Belgrano appears who creates the Flag and forms the Army of the North, a Belgrano not only more capable and experienced but also with a better understanding of our culture and our people,” he added.

In this sense, the minister stressed that “Belgrano was able to interpret a changing reality and assume the leadership of a population with a vocation for independence; The Jujeño Exodus was the demonstration of the will of a people to fight and sacrifice for their freedom”.

The hero Manuel Belgrano.

“Today the Malvinas veterans are present, those who in another time and another circumstance revived that patriotic spirit, in them the spirit of the great fathers of the Nation is reflected,” Taiana completed.

Bauer’s involvement

Bauer, for his part, affirmed that “there is always a need to honor the memory of Belgrano, an extraordinary man to whom we owe independence, freedom and the Flag, among other tasks that he carried out in a short and extraordinary life, for which we are grateful for this edition. of their texts on paper and also in digital format to facilitate their arrival to new audiences”.

“Belgrano’s legacy is that of the fight against colonialism, the fight for independence that he understood was together with the people and with all those women like María Remedios del Valle; that legacy is the same example left to us by our veterans who in Malvinas gave everything they had in the battle against colonialism for sovereignty and independence”, he added.

History of Belgrano

According to historians, Belgrano, in his ideas and in his writings, promoted the consideration of agriculture as a generator of wealth for a future country. He considered that it brought with it civilization, the culture of work, love of the land, the concept of property and economic growth.

It was also a promoter of education at different levels, creating the Nautical School, a Technical School and raising the need for school education for girls.

The historical archives of various provinces, including Córdoba and Corrientes, currently gather epistolary documentation from Belgrano, including references to the campaign he carried out in Paraguay as soon as he was designated as head of the Army of the North or his exchange with his friend Tomás de Anchorena between 1808 and 1815

During the ceremony, the Fundación Educando en Valores Talentos para la Vida gave awards to education and health workers, social activists and Malvinas veterans.
