The General Directorate of Highway Beautification and Ring Roads (Digecac) inaugurated this Wednesday the rehabilitation of the Green Triangle of the Equestrian avenuea space that is part of the ecological corridor that connects with the Las Américas highway.
The event was led by the director of Digecac, Rodolfo Valera Grullón; the mayor of Santo Domingo Este, Dio Astacio; and the engineer Mitzi Lluberesfrom the Ministry of Public Works.
Valera highlighted that the renovation of the area represents a significant closure for the institution in 2025. “The recovery of this Green Triangle evidence that we are more than pruning green areas. We have a comprehensive vision of beautification and its direct impact on communities,” he stated.
Mayor Dío Astacio thanked the institution for its support and appreciated the delivery of the space, which the community has demanded for years. He called on residents to take care of and preserve the place. “Citizens must assume a commitment to nature and the spaces that surround them,” he expressed.
Intervention details
The space, located near the V Centenario Hippodrome, was intervened between September and December. The works included:

Redesign and adaptation of all gardening

Placing hundreds of ornamental plants, such as crotons, violets and boudoirs

Pruning and improving existing trees

Installation of new benches and creation of walkways to explore the area

Laying grass and installing a Green Dot
The work is integrated into the green promenade developed on the central island of the Equestrian avenuewhich connects with the elevated section recently put into operation by Public Works.
