The price difference of the items that make up the Christmas and New Year’s dinner reaches 76.5%, pointed out the survey carried out by Procon-SP. The greatest variation found was in the 250g box cooked lentil item, from Vapza – in one place the product was found for BRL 9.69 and, in another, for BRL 5.49, a difference of 76.5%.
Among panettone and chocotone, one of the most consumed items at this time, the greatest difference found was 54%. The 750g tin chocotone, from the Bauducco brand, cost R$61.59 in one establishment and R$39.99 in another.
The research team from the School of Consumer Protection and Defense, responsible for the survey, collected prices remotely from November 30th to December 2nd and on December 6th on the websites of seven large supermarkets: Andorinha, Carrefour , Clube Extra, Kanguru, Mambo, Pão de Açúcar and Sonda.
The prices of 67 items from different brands were compared, including olive oils, bonbons, meats, preserves, ready-made farofas, fruits in syrup, lentils, panettone and chocotone, with the aim of offering a price reference to the consumer.
Comparing common products between this year’s and last year’s surveys, it was found that there was an increase in the average price of 11.08%; the IPC-SP Consumer Price Index of the Economic Research Institute Foundation (FIPE), referring to the analyzed period, registered a variation of 7.35%.
