They have no toilets and are hungry. Drivers of trucks, trailers and buses of different capacities have been forced to remain inside their cabins for up to five days forming endless lines waiting to refuel their tanks with diesel.
A graphic team from EL DEBER visited several pumps in the capital of Santa Cruz and collected testimonies from these workers who connect the markets.as well as supporting the export of consumer goods that are produced in this part of the country.
Luis Fernando, for example, it has been in the queue since Monday. He has to collect cattle from San Ignacio to take it to the capital, but there are other truckers who were near the Cambódromo in a line of about five kilometers that reached behind the Industrial Park.
Another driver, this time of a media truck destined for the distribution of logistics and supplies, practically had the doors of his cabin open. The driver was bare-chested to withstand the average temperature of 35 degrees during the week.
Only on Tuesday did the ambient temperature drop, but in return strong winds also affected the workerss behind the wheel who were patiently waiting their turn to refuel. The tankers with fuel took time to reach the pumps.
“This is serious, there is no bathroom; “We are very affected,” commented Pedro Ortiz, who until Friday had spent three and a half days in the ranks. The man must carry supplies and paper to Chiquitanía, but he has not been able to due to the lack of diesel.
The gasoline supply crisis, but especially diesel, has worsened in recent days. The Government is responsiblebilized the blockades carried out by the evistas, but the lack of dollars also impacted the administration of Luis Arce.
