“We see that there is no possibility of an agreement with the transporters and the total gap is $6,000. The increase is planned to be made in three adjustments, with a six-month gap between each one,” Bonilla said.
In other words, the first increase is expected to take effect in the remainder of this year, the second before June 2025, and the third before the end of next year.
In this regard, Minister Bonilla highlighted that one of the issues that were discussed is that The increase would not be made on a monthly basis, as was done with gasoline. This, considering that the transporters cannot move the freight.

Why will diesel prices rise?
The Ministry of Finance had already confirmed the imminent increase in the price of diesel fuel, despite the fact that no agreement was reached with the transport unions. “We will have to adjust the price of diesel and this will be the next unpopular measure that this Government has to take. It must be taken and there will be no agreement”he said.
The measure is aimed at closing the gap between diesel and the international price, so, according to estimates from the portfoliothe value should reach approximately between $15,000 and $16,000.
On several occasions, Minister Bonilla has explained that, if the adjustment is not made, the deficit of the Fuel Price Stabilization Fund (Fepc) will be $11.6 billion in 2024 and could reach $12.8 billion in 2025. Thus, the adjustment would contribute to alleviating the tax burden.
It should be remembered that the value of ACPM has been frozen since January 1, 2020, that is, The average price per gallon currently stands at $9.456.
