Roberto Antônio Cera, The Cerinha, creator and founder of the Piracicaba International Humor Salon, died on Saturday (20) at the age of 85. The information was confirmed today (20) by the Piracicaba Culture Secretariat (SP) and also by the social networks of the Humor Humm and the Cerinha itself.
“With deep sadness, we said goodbye to Roberto Antonio Cêra, dear Cerinha, one of the founders of the Piracicaba International Humor Salon. Visionary and passionate about culture, he was a supporter of the arts, communication and creative freedom. Its legacy lives in the many initiatives that helped build and in the affective memory of a more creative and plural Piracicaba, ”said the secretary.
According to information published on the Instagram of Cerinha, he was hospitalized with Covid-19 and ended up not resisting the disease.
“A great supporter of the arts, communication, graphic humor, among many other fronts, was from the beginning among those who thought and helped in the creation of our event,” says the profile of the Humor Hall. “It is the legacy of this great personality, with a striking and determining story for the piracicabano and international graphic humor,” he added.
The International Humor Salon emerged in 1974, during the Brazilian Military Dictatorship. The idea came among a group of Piracicaba artists, journalists and intellectuals and was supported by the newspaper The Pasquim. Early in its first edition, the event was attended by some of the country’s largest cartoonists such as Millôr, Ziraldo and Jaguar and eventually firmed as an important space for reflection, discussion and innovation about art and humor.
