Economist Diego Guevara was designated as the Vice Minister General of the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit for the Government of Gustavo Petro.
Guevara had been working as an adviser to the President-elect, and is part of his economic team.

Although Petro has not yet confirmed the appointment, the rector of the National University, Dolly Montoya, congratulated Guevara and confirmed the appointment through her Twitter profile.
“Economist Diego Guevara, a graduate and professor at the Faculty of Economic Sciences of the National University, has been appointed as deputy general minister of the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit of the Ministry of Finance. With his leadership, social and academic commitment, he will make a valuable effort”, Montoya said in his trill.

The appointed deputy minister is mechatronics engineer from the National University of Colombia, with a master’s degree in Economic Sciences from the same university and a doctorate in Economics from the same institution.
He worked at the Ministry of Communications and the University of Limerck. He has also held teaching positions at the Universidad Católica de Colombia, the Universidad de la Sabana, the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana and the Universidad Nacional.
