Diego Berretta: “Maybe there is nothing else important to discuss in Palmira”

The reopening of the beach volleyball court on Higueritas Beach caused discomfort within the local Municipality, to the point that in its session on Wednesday, May 10, and as EL ECO published, Mayor Callero maintained that the initiative was carried out “without the knowledge” of the local government, which, although it agreed with the work, how Berretta handled it was an act of “politicking” behind the back of the Municipality in a space under its domain.

The Sports Director’s version

Berretta told EL ECO that Mayor Agustín Callero “was aware of it.” The subject of the court was addressed “when he came to Palmira”, to the Higueritas beach “José Luis Bringa (National Secretary of Sports), and he (Callero) was there that day and we promised to improve the volleyball court”.

“I made the request to the Works Department, the field was filled with sand and it was left for use. A sports area was set up with the endorsement of the Prefecture because that area falls under its jurisdiction. We recovered that space, it seemed to us that we had to do it and it came to fruition ”, he affirmed.

“Here there is nothing to think about, seeing the little ones playing, enjoying the daylight of that field, we think it is the best,” he added.

Responding to the opinion of the Palmyrenes municipality, Berretta said that they did not go “over the Municipality. If we disrespect someone, we apologize, although I don’t think it’s necessary because that didn’t happen. A place was rehabilitated for the people, for the people”.

“I am receiving indications from the mayor (Carlos Moreira) and the general secretary (Guillermo Rodríguez) who are my superiors, and they told me to generate things for the young and for the elderly, so we are on that path.”

“We are working with the departmental government. At no time did I ask or speak to anyone about political issues. At this moment, politics does not even cross my mind, on the contrary, today we are dealing with the issue of managing, ”he stressed.

“It’s a pity” that the Municipality did not participate on the 13th in the inauguration of the field. “It wasn’t the mayor or the councillors.” It is an unfounded anger, but we are going to continue on this path of doing things.

We have dealings with all the mayors so this is the first time that such unanimous anger has happened to me, but we have to keep working and if we can do it together with this Municipality I don’t have any kind of problem to generate things for the people of Palmyra “. emphasized.

He questioned that if the issue was dealt with in the Municipality “maybe it was because there is nothing else important to deal with in Palmira, it is good if it is so. It seems to me that this should not be given importance, quite the contrary; it doesn’t matter who does things, if they are viable projects we support them”.

“When the political time comes, it will be seen, but there are still a few months to go, now we are with the management,” concluded Berretta.
