Died in his sleep from the effects of Hurricane Fiona

They report the death of a man hit by a tree that fell on his home while he was sleeping, caused by the effects of Hurricane Fiona.

According to data, the man responded to the name of Edward Mercedes. His relatives were looking for him without knowing that he was under rubble and a fallen tree.

The event where the man died in his sleep took place in an alley called El Tamarindo. It is located in front of the municipal cemetery of the same name in San Pedro De Macorís.

The authorities, responding to a call, went to the scene of the events where they picked up the body in a state of decomposition.

Edward Mercedes would be the third fatal victim attributable to the passage of Fiona. The first corresponds to that of Mr. Isidro Quiñones, 69 years old, in the Municipal District of San José de Matanzas, Nagua.

According to information from relatives and friends, Quiñones lost his life when he was trying to fix the roof of his home. In the event, a chestnut tree fell off, causing his death.

Meanwhile, the second corresponds to the unfortunate death of Auriely Esther Calderon Jimenezwho fell on top of a power line pole that was knocked down by Hurricane Fiona while he was traveling on a motorcycle towards the community of Santana in Higüey.
