Did he know they were after him? Ciro Castillo left the clinic minutes before being arrested

The regional governor of Callao, Ciro Castillo Rojoleft a clinic located in the Pueblo Libre district minutes before police officers arrived with an arrest warrant against him.

The information was disseminated in a program report Fourth Estatewhich accessed images from security cameras of the medical establishment.

According to the report, the event occurred on December 15. Castillo Rojo had been admitted to the Stella Maris clinic since Saturday the 13th. However, after allegedly learning about the execution of a police and prosecutor mega-operation linked to his case, he requested his voluntary discharge and left the place before the arrival of the Police.

The images show the governor leaving in a wheelchair, wearing a mask and accompanied by medical personnel. In the record, a nurse is seen pushing him, while a doctor and a security agent escort him to the elevator. Subsequently, he boarded a vehicle with tinted windows and left the scene.

According to Cuarto Poder, the Police arrived at the clinic with a court order approximately 20 minutes after leaving Castillo Rojo.

General Luis Lira, head of DIRCOCOR, confirmed that the incident is officially considered an escape, pointing out that the governor left the place after learning of the operation. However, he flatly denied that information had been leaked by the PNP. “The police didn’t go,” he said.

Ciro Castillo is investigated for the case ‘The partners of GORE Callao’

That same day, from 4:00 am, an operation was carried out at Castillo Rojo’s home, located in La Punta, Callao, with the aim of arresting him for the alleged crimes of aggravated collusion and criminal organization.

Although vehicles and security personnel were present at the property, the governor was not present.

The Prosecutor’s Office is investigating him for allegedly leading a network known as ‘The partners of GORE Callao’, linked to the routing of contracts and favoring suppliers.

Likewise, Cuarto Poder reported that, although Castillo Rojo released an audio in which he denied having been notified and rejected the charges, there are official documents that prove that he was summoned as a witness in December 2024.

These documents contain a request to reschedule his statement for agenda reasons, signed by the governor himself.

His lawyer, Humberto Abanto, indicated that he was not informed of a formal investigation. However, the newspaper report indicates that the records contradict that version.

Ciro Castillo is found missing

The report also showed images of the governor’s office in the Regional Government of Callao, where the absence of documents in cabinets and drawers is observed.

In addition, he realized the existence of an internal route that connects the second floor of the building with the underground parking, through a staircase.

According to witnesses cited by Cuarto Poder, Castillo Rojo stopped attending his office four days before the operation.

Currently, Ciro Castillo Rojo remains a fugitive and his whereabouts are unknown. The Police do not rule out that they were previously warned of the operation.
