Dictatorship will cancel 96 NGOs, including INDE, social arm of Cosep

The dictatorship of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo ordered the cancellation of the legal personality of another 96 non-governmental organizations (NGOs). The proposal was presented by the Ortega deputy Filiberto Rodríguez, in charge of championing the “annihilation” of more than 400 NGOs with this new batch.

The proposal to cancel legal personality includes the Nicaraguan Development Institute (INDE), the social arm of the Superior Council of Private Enterprise (Cosep), a former ally of the Ortega-Murillo regime that maintained a corporatist model installed in Nicaragua for 11 years. .

Deputy Rodríguez points out that these associations and foundations have “transgressed and failed to comply with their obligations” before the law, for which they “hinder the control and surveillance” of the General Directorate of Registration and Control of Non-Profit Organisms.

The steamroller of Sandinista deputies approved, with the favorable vote of the 75 members of the Daniel Ortega regime’s caucus, the cancellation of the legal personality of 83 non-governmental organizations (NGOs), on Tuesday, May 31, among which stand out the Enrique Bolaños Foundation and the Nicaraguan Language Association.
