Dictatorship cancels legal status of Cosep and 18 chambers of the private sector

Cosep

The dictatorship of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo canceled the legal status of 18 chambers of the private sector plus that of the business leadership represented in the Superior Council of Private Enterprise (Cosep), due to their failure to comply with their obligations under the law, before the Directorate General Registry and Control of Non-Profit Organizations, of the Ministry of the Interior, under Ortega control.

The decision outlaws the most representative organizations of the Nicaraguan private sector, and constitutes a new blow against the engine of the national economy, from the 2019 tax reformthe reform to the social security law of 2019, the tax blackmail carried out through the Mayor’s Office of Managua, the General Directorate of Revenue and Customs Services or, more recently, the imprisonment of several of its leaders.

In the decrees published in the Official Gazette number 41 of this Monday, March 6, the Minister of the Interior, María Amelia Coronel Kinloch, makes effective the cancellation of:

  1. Mining Chamber Association of Nicaragua (Caminic)
  2. Nicaraguan Association of the Textile and Clothing Industry (Anitec)
  3. Chamber of Developers of Nicaragua (Cadur)
