The Nicaraguan residential couple, Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo, sent a “message of solidarity” to their Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, after the Wagner paramilitary group, which had been paid by the Kremlin to invade Ukraine, announced on Friday that it was present in three Russian regions: Rostov, Voronej and Lipetsk, in what became known as a rebellion against Moscow’s might.

“From this brave and fighting Nicaragua, we salute the great Russian people, you, your government, and the Families of all of Russia, in these moments of great challenges to the glory of Russia’s character, identity, wisdom, and strengths. » details the letter.

In the same document, dated this Saturday, June 24, the Nicaraguan dictators expressed that their regime “is always pending and in solidarity” with the situation that the Kremlin is going through.

“With the embrace, recognition, respect and admiration of all our people, to you, fellow President Vladimir Putin, our Affection, in revolutionary brotherhood”, reiterates the brief greeting from the Ortega administration.

The expressions of solidarity from Nicaragua for Putin are made hours after it was known that the head of the Wagner paramilitary group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, announced that his men, who were heading towards Moscow from southwestern Russia, are “returning” to their camps to avoid “a bloodbath.”

“Now is the time when blood can flow. That is why (…) our columns turn around and go back in the opposite direction to return to the camps,” Prigozhin declared in an audio posted on Telegram.

For his part, Vladimir Putin – who in February 2022 started a war against Ukraine – condemned what he described as Prigozhin’s “betrayal” and warned of the risk of a “civil war” in the midst of a conflict with Ukraine.

Ortega is one of Russia’s allies who have supported the invasion of the Ukrainian people, stating that the invader Putin “fights to keep the peace”, minimizing the thousands of human losses caused by the conflict.
