Díaz-Canel talks with MEPs visiting Cuba

The president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, spoke today with a delegation of MEPs and members of the group La Izquierda, who are visiting the Caribbean island.

According to the Cuban television news, the president received them at the Palace of the Revolution and exchanged on current national and international issues.

Previously, the president of the National Assembly of People’s Power (Parliament), Esteban Lazo, also spoke with the group at the Capitol, seat of the Legislative.

MEP Sira Rego recognized that the tightening of the US economic blockade against Cuba, in the midst of the pandemic, constitutes an attack on human rights.

In statements offered to the National Assembly, the also vice president of the group La Izquierda, of the European Parliament, stressed that hostile politics is an instrument of coercion that affects not only the island, but also other peoples of the world.

As part of an invitation from the Cuban Parliament, the delegation arrived in the country last Monday and since then has visited sites of historical, social and cultural interest.
