Diaz-Canel highlights youth initiative in Plaza Central de Cuba

The president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, highlighted today the Sentada de los Pañuelos Rojos initiative, which takes place in the Central Park of this capital, with the participation of young people and representatives of various sectors.

“Members of various groups and leaders of civil society are leading an anti-imperialist action in disagreement with the unconventional war practices carried out against peace in Cuba,” the president wrote on his Twitter social network account, referring to the action that It started last Friday and runs until this Sunday.

The initiative is made up of a group of students, workers, housewives and members of the Lgbtiq + community, who made known in a statement their position against the United States’ strategy against Cuba, and the economic, commercial and financial blockade that impose the northern nation against this Caribbean island.

The Sitting of the Red Scarves also supports the emancipatory struggles and the commitment of its members to a perfectible socialism, the message refers.

Concerts, poetry readings, speeches, documentary projections and book presentations are some of the actions carried out.

According to its members, the Telegram messaging platform served for the emergence of this project, which declares itself to be the defender of life, equality, sovereignty, justice and the conquest of utopia.
