The President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, exchanged today with professors from the Hermanos Saíz Montes de Oca University, as part of his tour of this western province.
According to the local press, the president was interested in the management of the Center to promote local development based on science and innovation, in addition to the vision of the academy about the government’s management in the territory.
On this and other issues, Dr. Niurka Rodríguez, deputy governor of the province, reported on TV Pinar.
The Cuban Presidency’s Twitter account highlighted the dialogue on the importance of raising the teaching and scientific category of the faculty, which has been one of the main activities carried out by the Center in the last two years.
According to official sources, the Hermanos Saíz Montes de Oca University currently has 281 Doctors in Science, more than 620 master’s degrees and specialists, and a hundred full professors.
As part of his visit to this capital, Díaz-Canel previously spoke with inhabitants of the town of 5 de Septiembre and called for promoting social work and addressing the vulnerabilities of the population.
The president reiterated the need to print quality and efficiency in the actions carried out in vulnerable neighborhoods on the island to raise the standard of living of its inhabitants.
He also visited the La Lucila state farm where he exchanged criteria with workers and managers about the actions that have been carried out since last October in search of the recovery of areas that allow increasing food production, a prioritized activity in the country.
Similarly, he praised the achievements of this sector and urged to work on the recovery of the communities where the workers of the farm reside, to the extent that the center obtains results.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero toured the municipality of Los Palacios, and expressed the need to produce to increase wages and fully exploit installed capacities, reported the Guerrillero Newspaper of this province.
