Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC) and President of the Republic of Cuba, highlighted yesterday in Camagüey that the nation faces a pandemic outbreak due to the incidence of the Omicron variant in different conditions, with high numbers of immunized population.
In addition to being the second country in the world that has more percent of the population vaccinated with at least one dose, it is among the first five with the most population with the complete scheme, and 20 percent of it already received the booster dose, said the president when he intervened in the Balance Assembly of the political organization of the municipality of Camagüey.
Although the new variant is more transmissible, due to the immunization conditions of the Cuban population it affects less, he pointed out, while referring that it is not necessary to return to the measures adopted in previous moments, although it is necessary to maintain responsibility and compliance with sanitary hygiene provisions to revive the economy.
The last two years have been very challenging and of great complexity for the country, at a time of tightening of the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States to the largest of the Antilles, he commented.
We had to learn from a pandemic that has filled the world with uncertainty, we learned to handle it, which shows the strength of the Cuban Revolution, and it was also possible to produce our own vaccines, thanks to Fidel’s vision of promoting biotechnology, he said.
Later, Díaz-Canel praised the interventions made in the Assembly, which was also chaired by Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Political Bureau and secretary of Organization and Politics of Cadres of the PCC, Gerardo Hernández Nordelo, Hero of the Republic of Cuba, and Coordinator of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution and Ariel Santana Santiesteban, first secretary of the PCC in the province of Camagüey.
He highlighted that all were loaded with analysis based on the priorities that emerged, and the experiences of the delegates in the role they play and in the communities.
If the interventions are integrated, it is possible to see how the organization should work, there are points of view of more experienced people, of those who move in the academic field, of the zonal nuclei and of young people, he pointed out.
When speaking Armando Peñalver, delegate of a zone nucleus of the Cándido González district, highlighted the importance of ideological political work as the weapon of the party organization, it is not a precise theoretical work, and should be aimed at solving the problems of the nation, in close connection with the people.
Representing the nucleus of the Previsora polyclinic, the young doctor Yoan Montalvo commented on how the sensitivity and humanism of the Cuban health system has emerged during the confrontation with the pandemic, but – he added – it has also put all the deficiencies and shortcomings on the table, and for the nucleus to be able to face them, it must recognize which it suffers from, and this is what we have discussed in our health area.
It is difficult to demand from the administration if the members of the PCC are not examples in the tasks, what we must do with quality, and in the case of the sector is to provide benefits to the population and assist them adequately, he considered.
René Julio Sánchez, secretary of the nucleus of the Food Products Wholesale Company (EMPA), elaborated on the accompaniment and vision of the members of the organization in the improvement of the entity, and the link with other economic actors in the execution of projects local development and other priorities of the country.
The growth of the members, the care of the reserves and quarries and the role of the PCC in the care and improvement of the socialist state enterprise were also some of the issues addressed at the meeting, as well as the political and ideological preparation of the militants.
At the end of the appointment, Julio César Toledo Martínez was promoted to the position of first secretary of the PCC in the Camagüey demarcation, and the work carried out by Daniel Fuentes Milanés during three years in that responsibility was recognized.
