Artemisa, March 18 (ACN) Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee (CC) of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and President of the Republic, called on the members of Artemisa to strengthen their work while recognizing the leadership of the University in the scientific sphere.
Díaz-Canel Bermúdez presided over the third day of the visit by the Secretariat of the CC and its auxiliary structure, in which he exchanged with residents of the El Chalet neighborhood and workers from the San Justo I Base Business Unit (dedicated to planting various crops such as malanga and sweet potato), both in the provincial capital.
The president’s agenda included an exchange with experts from the University of Artemisa, producers with good results in food production and other representatives of the territory to promote a government system based on science and innovation.
When intervening in the conclusions of the visit, he highlighted that the will to manage science and innovation throughout the territory is appreciated from the adjustments to the study plans of the University of Artemisa, such as the opening of the Industrial Engineering career and the Short-cycle course of Higher Technician in Water and Sanitation.
He stressed that this process is led by the University, which consolidates its links with local development programs and food production, as well as the promotion of agroecology, with benchmark experiences for the province and the country such as Finca Marta, in Caimito.
However, he suggested expanding doctoral training in the province, especially in the public administration system, which guarantees more efficiency, more scientific rigor and people who are more prepared to transmit the guidelines.
He added that the Artemisa Party is called upon to promptly solve the operational problems detected by the evaluators, especially those linked to growth, attention to young people and the training of cadres.
He pointed out that it is essential to summon workers and youth to the meetings of the core of the Party because of the possibility that this offers to analyze the problems from various angles and adopt collegiate solutions, which strengthens and provides transparency to the actions of the organization.
The First Secretary of the CC of the PCC emphasized that the partisan work must be planned and organized, must contemplate the problems of its radius of action and of the workers, to which is added the accountability of the cadres, always with a counterpart, which has the purpose of perfecting the performance of the militant.
Gladys Martínez Verdecia, member of the Political Bureau of the CC and first secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Party, recognized the urgency of raising the preparation of the cadres and developing better joint work between the province and the municipalities.
Ricardo Concepción Rodríguez, governor of Artemisa, explained the actions that are being carried out to alleviate the situation with the water supply, and that not only is work being done in 38 neighborhoods in vulnerable conditions, but also in those that are farthest away, such as El Morrillo, in Bahía. Honda, and El Mambí, in San Cristóbal, with urgent problems to solve.
He highlighted that in the 2021 complex, Artemisa improved the conditions for hospital care and general education.
