The National Tax and Customs Directorate (Dian) announced this Wednesday -December 11- that next week a new day of its usual auctions will be held, with which it offers products that have been seized for not complying with customs regulations.
As explained by the entity, in a strategic alliance with the El Martillo platform of Banco Popular, the entity will make available to the public a variety of assets that have entered the Nation’s assets as a consequence of seizure, confiscation or abandonment processes and that in this opportunity includes luxury motorcycles.

The virtual public auction will take place between December 16 and 18, 2024 and on this occasion, vehicles and various merchandise that have entered the Nation’s heritage will be offered, highlighting among the available goods 90 completely new Vespa motorcycles, among other goods.
“To participate in this auction, interested parties must register in advance on the El Martillo platform of Banco Popular https://www.elmartillo.com.co/inicio. Once registered, they will be able to access the detailed catalog of the goods, which includes descriptions, photographs and conditions of sale,” they explained.

La Dian noted that “it is important to keep in mind that the only tool through which the offers are made and the auction process organized by the entity is El Martillo is carried out.”
This is in order to make it clear that no official of Banco Popular, the customs authority or any other third party is authorized to provide information, carry out the process or ask for money from those interested in participating in the virtual auction.
How to participate?
To participate, users must register with their basic information on the El Martillo platform, validating your identity with security questions and taking into account that it is essential to have a bank account enabled for PSE payments.

If you are already registered, simply log in with your credentials and browse the catalogue, which details base prices, specifications, terms of sale and display data for the goods.
On the day of the auction, participants enter the “Virtual Auction Room” section on the platform, where they can make the necessary deposit through the PSE secure payments button. This deposit, once approved, will be reflected in the system and will enable the user to bid on the selected lots.
La Dian explained that each offer must meet a minimum margin of improvement established by the system to enter the bidding.

During the auction, users will be able to monitor the status of their bids. If they lead, the lot will appear identified with the word “Winning”; Otherwise, it will be displayed as “Losing”. Likewise, the timer for each lot will indicate the time remaining to close the auction, allowing participants to adjust their bids until the last moment, ensuring they obtain the desired item.
At the end of the auction, the system will send the award document to the winner via email. This must make the balance payment within the following four business days through a virtual deposit or at a Banco Popular office. Subsequently, the Dian will be in charge of the purchase and sale, billing and delivery procedures, thus completing the process of acquiring the goods offered.
It is worth remembering that virtual auctions are a space with which the National Tax and Customs Directorate seeks to generate additional resources for the Nation’s coffers and this year it has been a widely used initiative, taking into account the cash squeeze that the country is experiencing.
