After the complaint made by several citizens that the General Directorate of Internal Taxes (DGII) was not delivering the plates the same day, the institution reported this Wednesday that the situation in the post office of the Port of Santo Domingo is controlled and that the operations there are carried out on a regular basis, for which -he said- the delivery of the first license plate is maintained on the same day for individuals.
The institution notified through a press release that in the period that covers January-March of this year and the first days of April, between 130 and 156 plates daily “without any inconvenience for the taxpayers“. He reported that he responds daily to more than 150 taxpayers “quickly and efficiently.”
He added that in order to guarantee a response to the cases, the measure of working extended hours has been adopted from 8:00 in the morning until 6:00 in the afternoon, so that “no taxpayer who has the need to carry out their process stop doing it”.
In that same sense, he indicated that security has been reinforced in the post office of the Port of Santo Domingo for the purpose of guaranteeing the order and security of the taxpayers and the staff who provide their services there.
To guarantee the efficiency and fluidity of the service to individuals who come to carry out their first license plate procedures, these post offices have been conceived in terms of design and number of personnel to attend to a limit of five requests for plates per taxpayer.
The DGII urged vehicle importers whose demand for transactions is higher than that of natural persons, to make their requests through the Virtual Office and the Multiple Transactions Center on Lope de Vega Avenue, to avoid congestion in the processes.
