Pimentel added that he made hundreds of observations and recommendations to the Ministry of Education.
The director of the General Directorate of Public Procurement and Contracting (DGCP), Carlos Pimentel, said on Monday that the Ministry of Education (MINERD), did not respond to any of the remarks what was done to them on some tenders that were rejected due to the weaknesses presented.
The director of the DGCP Pimentel said that “Different weaknesses” were found in various processes. The first was that of the urgent purchase of technological equipment in which 51 of 54 lots were canceled in which it was noted that interlinked suppliers were awarded that could not deliver that equipment because they did not have the capacity to do so.

And the most recent one that has to do with digital textbooks in which a precautionary measure was received from one of the companies that participated and that had challenged the process.
“We were aware of the precautionary measure and we understood that there were elements that it was important for the ministry to pronounce itself and to do so in time when there is still interest and the collective interest can be safeguarded and since the ministry did not respond to that challenge, we proceeded to suspend the execution of the contracts for four lots,” said Pimentel.
During an interview on the El Día Program, which is broadcast on Telesistema, channel 11, Pimentel added that he made hundreds of observations and recommendations to the Ministry of Education.
Carlos Pimentel added that the MINERD did not open the staff of the Department of Public Procurement and Contracting in the ministry so that they could carry out their work despite the fact that the decision to place a member of the institution in the State dependencies is contained in a presidential decree and it is a policy of that direction.
