Develop industrial parks and improve services in Puebla, necessary: Canacintra

Puebla, Pue. The development of new industrial parks in Puebla requires improvements in the supply of electrical energy to attract companies, therefore a diagnosis will be prepared to determine which areas are suitable, especially in the metropolitan area, to detonate new manufacturing infrastructure. according to the National Chamber of the Processing Industry (Canacintra).

Carlos Sosa Spínola, president of the organization, commented that with the Business Coordinating Council (CCE) and the clusters they are carrying out the study that will be vital for industrial development in the next six years.

He highlighted that Puebla has a fairly important development of natural gas in recent years; However, the electrical part must be considered.

He considered it important to have information so that the incoming state government can help generate more feasible land reserves for the industry. “A more in-depth study must be done so that companies do not set up shop in the medium term and run out of energy. This is what has happened in other states, where there are industrial parks with space, but they do not have electricity.”

The leader of Canacintra said that developing parks of 30 or 40 hectares are viable in the metropolitan area, but there must be a sufficient supply of light to generate interest among companies that want to establish themselves.

A month ago, the elected governor Alejandro Armenta Mier announced that La Ciudad Modelo, located in the municipality of San José Chiapa, where the Audi plant is located, would become “the capital of technology”, for which 600 million will be invested pesos together with the private sector.

The objective of the investment is to install an energy substation in that area where there are 300 hectares available and which currently has German brand auto parts suppliers, but the aim is to attract technological development companies.

Sosa Spínola reiterated that this context gives Canacintra reason to develop an in-depth diagnosis to detect areas of opportunity, in order to conceive new industrial parks, but that comply with all the services to operate.

He indicated that beyond the need to detonate at least two industrial parks of 30 or 40 hectares, a viable industrial corridor must be generated with full gas, water and electricity coverage.

Thus, the new international regulations will force us to generate better manufacturing infrastructure in Puebla, because otherwise opportunities will be lost.

The diagnosis prepared by Canacintra to deliver to the new state authorities that will take office as of December 14, is linked to the project that the local Mexican Chamber of the Construction Industry has on developing macro industrial parks.
