The Government of Portugal has demanded the “immediate and unconditional release” of Williams Dávila, after recalling that the politician has Portuguese nationality and “was detained arbitrarily and in poor health.”
Relatives of the former deputy and former governor of the state of Mérida, Williams Dávila, requested this Sunday, December 8, his immediate release, after four months “unjustly detained.”
«Today, my father has been unjustly detained for 4 months, without a court order. An impeccable democrat with an impeccable political career, whose only ‘fault’ has been defending democratic values. “We demand his immediate release,” wrote one of the sons of the former deputy, William Dávila Valeri, on social networks.
Williams Dávila, part of the national leadership of Democratic Action, was “intercepted” by “a van without license plates and two motorized vehicles” on the night of August 8, after participating in a protest for the release of all political prisoners in the Plaza de Los Palos Grandes (Chacao municipality, Miranda state).
The former deputy was transferred to the Sebin El Helicoide headquarters, where he was presented in court and family members or lawyers were not allowed to visit to verify his condition. Due to health problems, days later, he was taken to a clinic where he remains confined.
TO mid octoberhis relatives warned that he was transferred back to Helicoide, supposedly for a preliminary hearing. Due to the alert, he was taken to the clinic again. His son does not know if the court hearing took place.
