The Ministry of Interior Relations, Justice and Peace reported this Monday on the arrest of a citizen who stated that he was in “protection” by order of the opposition Maria Corina Machadowho had previously reported that the individual is part of his trusted team and was supposedly mortally wounded by law enforcement during the demonstrations on January 9.
“In response to the serious complaints presented by citizen María Corina Machado and disseminated by various national and international web portals, in relation to a citizen of her trusted team who had supposedly been mortally injured by law enforcement during the demonstrations on September 9 January 2025, the Public Ministry and the State security bodies, through the Ministry of Popular Power for Interior Relations, Justice and Peace, have carried out an exhaustive investigation to clarify the facts,” the entity explained through a statement.
The ministry specified that after the corresponding investigations, the citizen identified as Roalmi Alberto Cabeza Cedeño was detained in a well-known hotel in Greater Caracas. “It should be noted that the citizen is in excellent physical and health condition, with no injuries anywhere on his body,” the institution added.
In addition, he noted that the citizen will be presented before the justice agencies for the crimes of association to commit a crime and simulation of a punishable act with the aim of generating anxiety in the country.
The entity also published a video of the moment of the arrest on its Instagram accountin which the citizen confirms that he is in good health and that he was with Machado on January 9, staying at the hotel awaiting instructions from her, joining the fake news of the alleged arrest and police harassment during the aforementioned day.
The Ministry of Interior Relations, Justice and Peace ratified its commitment to the guarantee of human rights, as enshrined in the country’s Constitution, international treaties, and other current laws.
