He Club Destroyers took a significant step towards their return to the top division by qualifying for the national phase of the 2024 Simon Bolivar Cup. In an exciting match played at the Gilberto Parada stadium in Montero, the team needed at least one point to secure their qualification and achieved a 1-1 draw against Atlético Juniors.

Since the start of the match, Destroyers showed determination. The first half was balanced, with both teams trying to control the ball, but it was the Cuchuqui team that took the lead on the scoreboard. Johan Gomez, Colombian forward, opened the scoring in the 15th minute, taking advantage of a lapse in the rival defence.
