'Destination Quito' seeks to attract national visitors

The first national fair “Destination Quito”, which will be held from today December 10, 2021, at the Metropolitan Convention Center of Quito, will seek to promote the tourism sector in the capital, this time aimed at the national visitor.

According to the organizers, the fair, which in its international facet was held for the first time last June, tries to “generate a space for ‘networking” commercial for tourist establishments in the city of Quito recognized with the Tourist Quality Badge Q«, Which this year celebrated its tenth anniversary,

Since the end of 2020, the Ecuadorian capital, which houses both historical urban settings unparalleled in the entire continent, as well as rural areas of great biodiversity and for adventure tourism, has tried to promote this industry as an engine of development.

The statistics of sightseeing suffered a setback in 2020 as a result of the pandemic, but this 2021 they begin to raise their heads with all kinds of initiatives, and between January and October about 200,000 external visitors arrived in the city, according to data from Quito Tourism.

In this sense, the fair is a platform to expose all the potential to the representatives of the local and national tourism sector, but also to tourists, who on the second day, this Saturday, will have free access to this offer.

For it, Quito Tourism, In alliance with the representatives of the sector, it will offer offers and discounts for the festivities of Christmas and New Years.

And after the pandemic, one of the objectives of the meeting is to “position Quito as a renewed and safe tourist destination “, according to the organizers, and to do so with an” innovative event aligned to current trends that seeks to transfer the success of the Destination Quito International«.

In this way, the operators of the sector will be able to exchange ideas and get to know each other to value the existing tourist offer and «in search of innovation in programming and tourist packages of Quito ».

An innovation aimed at the offer for conference and meeting tourism (MICE for its acronym in English), for leisure, and also to profile the company Quito Tourism as an event organizer through its Marketing Department.

During the fair, the image of the city as a romantic destination for all kinds of events of a family or couple nature will also be promoted and promoted, an edge that was developed based on the importance that the wedding and romance segment represents in tourism and that generates significant economic income.

In that sense, the MICE Directorate of Quito Tourism has worked so that the city is considered one of the destinations for the organization of this type of event, because more and more couples decide to celebrate their union in the center of the world.

“The richness of its historical spaces, both natural and cultural, allow through a good organization to capture a beautiful moment that will be unforgettable,” said the organization in a statement, and that “couples live romantic experiences” that go from asking for hands to weddings, honeymoons, vow renewals or even the most daring bachelor parties.

According to data from Civil registrationIn 2019, around 56,865 marriages were carried out in Quito, and this industry generates a total of 28,000 million dollars worldwide.
