Destination Punta Cana Bávaro has the highest hotel occupancy

The average hotel occupancy in the country for this Easter is 74.6%according to data from the Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic (Asonahores), being the destination of Punta Cana-Bavaro the one with the highest registered occupation number.

However, the Minister of Tourism, David Colladosaid earlier in the week that occupancy was around 95 percent.

The destination of Punta Cana-Bávaro has for this holiday an average occupancy of 88.2%a percentage with which it exceeds the average occupancy that the destination had in 2019, the year before the covid-19 pandemic, when it was 85.4%.

According to the average net hotel occupancy rate of Asonahores, the variation of the average occupancy between last year and 2022 is 129.7%.

It details that the occupancy forecast for the Boca Chica and Juan Dolio area is 71.0%, in La Romana Bayahibe it also reaches 88.2% and in Puerto Plata the forecast is 66.3%.

Also in Sosúa and Cabarete the occupation would be this year at 55.0% and for Samaná it is 79.0%.

Last year, after the reopening, only the Samaná destination reached an average occupancy rate of 51.5% due to the effects of the pandemic, the other destinations were between 39% and 49%.

In 2019, the total occupation it was 80.5% and by 2021 it dropped to 43.8%.

The attractive North region

The coastal area of ​​the North region is represented by the provinces María Trinidad Sánchez, Puerto Plata and Samaná.

In these locations, the Atlantic Ocean takes over the beauty, from the beaches and cliffs located in Nagua, Cabrera and Río San Juan, to the beaches of Cabarete, Sosúa, Cofresí, Maimón and Punta Rucia, in Puerto Plata.

Punta Rucia is one of the starting points to Cayo Arena, a paradisiacal islet of white sand and coral reefs.

In Samaná, the journey can be divided between beaches and leafy mountains.

Throughout the peninsula, the beaches of Las Terrenas, Cosón, Portillo, El Limón and Las Galeras stand out. And for those who prefer to explore in the mountains, the Salto El Limón seals the tour.
