Despite the vandalism, the confrontation service in Havana will not be suspended, says Minister

The Minister of Transportation of Cuba, Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila, today denied the alleged suspension of the public transport service at early hours in Havana.

“We denounce that this news is false. There is no such suspension,” he said, clarifying that although the services are limited by the scarcity of fuel, transport has not been stopped.

The official shared on his Facebook account several publications that announced the paralysis of the so -called “confronta”. They claimed that the supposed measure was taken from “recent vandalisms that put security at risk.”

Regarding the aggressions against public transport vehicles, the minister called them acts that threaten the life of passengers, drivers and the aggressors themselves.

“Those who get involved in these facts do not stop for a second to measure the consequences of their actions, they lose sight of the fact that their own life is at stake, those of passengers and drivers,” said Rodríguez Dávila.

He announced that these facts, which are not new on the island, will be faced with rigor and about them “will fall on the sanctions that make this type.”

The public transport company of Havana reported last Wednesday that a bus of the P13 route was stoned in the early morning, which adds to the frequent vandalism against the buses in the capital.

In their social networksthe entity denounced the incident, which occurred at 3:35 in the morning on the road of Bejucal and 4th Street. against car 341 that covered route P13.

Acts of this type have frequently registered in Havana. The last attack against buses in the capital occurred on April 7, when a vehicle crashed against a house after the driver was attacked.

The authorities appeal to “the union of the force of the people and the PNR” to “reduce these incidents that affect the transportation of passengers in the capital.”
