The Buenos Aires government began this Tuesday the demolition of a community space in the Villa Ortúzar neighborhood, where last week the neighbors and the neighbors resisted the eviction of the place located in a square and in which the management of Horacio Rodríguez Larreta seeks to install a kennel for dogs.

In the community space there was a popular high school, a retirement center, cultural workshops for girls and boys, and a library.
The operation began at 5 in “El Galpón de Ortúzar”, located on the corner of Heredia and Charlone, in charge of the City Police and the Buenos Aires Government Control Agency, to disarm the metal structure that was part of the site managed by the community and a set of organizations.
“Once again the Buenos Aires government began to destroy the shed without a court order. While we are waiting for mediation in the Prosecutor’s Office, a truck with 30 workers appeared to try to continue demolishing with the excuse of a danger of collapse,” they pointed out from the neighborhood group to Télam.
Strictly speaking, last Friday, the Buenos Aires government tried to evict the community space, but the situation was stopped after the intervention of the North Fiscal Unit, where it was agreed a meeting this Tuesday between the parties to find a solution to the conflict.
In dialogue with Télam, a neighbor said that from Commune 15 a proposal to open an alternative site to the shed emerged, however the offer has not yet been made official.
Last week, the President of the Communal Board 15, Martín Garcilazoconfirmed to Télam that it was the Buenos Aires government that “made the political decision”, through the Commune, to “find a new destination for the place and make a kennel, which is an important demand of the neighbors.”
“We are in order and doing what we have to do and that is to regularize the situation of this place that dates back many years, but that has lost the essence that it had,” he said.
After the concurrence of the neighbors and neighbors to the place, the workers stopped the demolition work, and the results of a mediation initiated at the request of a court case.
