Moody’s Local considers that insurers have the solid solvency to face this fiscal adjustment, although some insurers will still face adjustments to their profits during 2026 due to this measure.
“They have the means to assume this impact and we also expect an adjustment in the rates for insurance renewals in 2026,” Devars added.
Although it has been argued that fiscal adjustments have been the sole cause of medical insurance prices rising, the AMASFAC representative said that in reality Mexico faces a crisis in health care.
Private health systems are beginning to become saturated and have more demand than other countries, which also influences the final price.
“We are experiencing a systemic problem that is getting worse; the (price) increases are going to continue because we have had a medical inflation of between 14 and 15 points for 5 years,” Ocampo warned.
In the first days of 2026, AMASFAC observes an increase in health insurance renewal of between 15 and 20% on average; but the percentage increases for seniors, whose insurance costs have increased by up to 40%.
In the case of auto insurance, Moody’s expects that in 2026 there will be an increase in hiring of 11.5% from 9.5% last year. The increase in costs, according to AMASFAC, has been minor, ranging between 8 and 10%.
This lower proportion responds to the arrival of vehicles of Asian origin.
“We have seen that even vehicles have dropped in price and competition is opening up with greater supply; policy prices are being greatly contained,” said Ocampo.
