The 31 families who live in the Gazcue Residentialmostly elderly, cried out to the Santo Domingo Aqueduct and Sewer Corporation (Caasd) to come to their aid, because they have been carrying more than two weeks without receiving water through the pipe.
The lack of service has generated serious inconveniences in the homes on Bolívar Avenue number 462, since they do not have water to do housework, wash, scrub or even bathe. In order to meet these needs, residents must unite and hire tanker truckswith expenses that exceed 10,000 pesos weekly.
Although they claim to have reported the case to the Caasd on multiple occasions, the situation continues no solution. Victor Hoepelmanadministrator of the residential complex, described the situation as “despairing.” He explained that, although the shipment of water twice a week – Thursdays and Sundays – for weeks they have not received “a single drop.”

“We pay the water faithfully, we paid the well, and yet we did not receive the service. we carry two weeks complete without water. Yesterday it arrived just a trickle, I have the video…How are we going to fill a 35,000-gallon cistern like that?” he said.
The administration presented recent invoices that confirm the constant spending on tanker trucks: 10,000 pesos for five trucks and another 6,000 pesos for three additional trips, amounts that have become common.
“What condominium with elderly people can sustain these expenses? We pay waterwe pay well, and we also have to buy trucks. “It’s too much,” he said. Amparo Pegueroof 73 yearsone of the residents.

The Caasd reported that next Thursday, when the water service is assigned to the area, a technical team will go to the site to verify why water is not reaching that residential area.
The residents explained that the internal well remained contaminated after the work carried out in the sewers and repairs on public roads, so it can no longer be used for human consumption.
They have a well and the water it doesn’t work
“The well was contaminated when they fixed the sewer that threw everything away. Since then it has served no purpose other than water plants“, denounced a community member.
For Marlon Bonelliowner of a business adjacent to the residential complex, the problem of water in Gazcue “it is not new.” “This is historic. Little comes here water for years. When it arrives, it is for a couple of hours and with low pressure. The only way to solve it is with our pockets,” he lamented.
Residents agree that the pressure and flow depend on the opening of the valves in the water network. distributionand they claim to have evidence in video that, when these are opened correctly, the cistern fills without difficulty.
José Miguel Martínezanother resident, confirmed this situation: “A while ago they came and opened the valve, and the water came strong. But lately what they open is a trickle. The cistern doesn’t even turn on because there isn’t enough water“.
