The Fundación Mapfre social awards decided this year to reward the professional and human career of the Venezuelan businesswoman and fashion designer Carolina Herrera, who founded her own fashion house in New York in 1981, at the age of 42.
Queen Sofia of Spain will preside over the award ceremony for these international awards on Thursday, October 6, in Madrid. The organization highlights that the Carolina Herrera brand, through fashion and accessories, fragrances and makeup, occupies one of the most important positions in world luxury, with a presence in more than 140 countries.
The Mapfre Foundation also recalled, through a statementthat the Carolina Herrera brand has collaborated and collaborates with entities that focus on the fight against malnutrition or cancer, such as the Aladina Foundation, and that promote the well-being of children and the empowerment of women, mainly through the formation.
The designer’s activities include her tireless support for the fight and prevention of breast cancer and her commitment to the development of women, areas that have led her to collaborate with associations such as Dress for Success, in the US, or the Ared Foundation and the Quiero Trabajo Foundation, in Spain.
In the face of the covid-19 pandemic, and in collaboration with the Red Cross and Red Crescent, the firm launched the Carolina Herrera Heart for Hope initiative, through which it raised 7 million dollars to provide medical supplies and psychological support to affected communities in countries around the world.
The Integra Foundation will also be awarded, as “Best Entity for its Social Trajectory”; the Medicalized Train in Ukraine, from Doctors Without Borders for “Best Project or Initiative for its Social Impact”; and Bodega Matarromera as “Best Initiative in the Agricultural Sector”.
The objective of the Fundación Mapfre Social Awards is to recognize the work of those people and organizations that dedicate their time and effort to achieving a better, fairer and more equal world and whose generosity and dedication is an example for society.
In the 2022 edition, a total of 1,432 applications were received, 17% more than the previous year, mainly from Europe, the United States and Latin America.
